History of the Human Services Club at Modesto Junior College

The Human Services Club is the brainchild of Dr. Kimberly Kennard-Lyke. Her enthusiasm was contagious, infected her students, and with the help of two Human Services students, the Human Services Club was born in the Fall of 2002.

The Club started with 8 to 10 students led by past presidents Sarah Keath and Samantha Loftin. Current President David Dickason was instrumental in expanding the membership to around 30 students in less than a year.

Dr. Kennard-Lyke has been a professor in Human Services with MJC since August, 2001. Her passion in the areas of homelessness, housing, trauma, resiliency, coping, and religion and spirituality led to her vision of providing assistance to the under-served, challenged populations.

The Human Services Club hopes to become a viable information and assistance source.
